Merely freshmen

In business school you jump directly from being a freshman to a senior over the space of a year. The first year at HBS is taken up entirely with the required curriculum, and the second completely by the elective curriculum. Hence students are always referred to by the acronyms RC and EC to distinguish their year. We feel like old wise folks in the second year as we watch first-years fumbling with the combinations on their mailboxes, and sitting in morning learning teams, which is somewhat silly when you realize we're all practically the same age.
